Al Gharafa crush Al Arabi in Emir Cup

Al Gharafa Friday crushed Al Arabi 2-0 to reach the quarterfinals of the Emir Cup. Coached by Paulo Silas, Al Gharafa now have a clash against Qatar Stars League (QSL) champions Lekhwiya in the last-eight stage of the country’s most popular football tournament.

 

In another clash on Friday, Al Khor edged past Qatar SC 2-1 to qualify for the quarterfinals. In the last-eight stage, Al Khor will take on El Jaish.

 

Al Wakra edged Umm Salal on penalties after both teams were locked at 1-1 in regulation time on Friday.

 

Al Wakra now have a date with Al Sadd in the quarterfinals. Al Kharaitiyat thrashed Al Ahli 4-2 to set up a clash against Al Rayyan, the 2012 Heir Apparent Cup champions.

 

The quarterfinals will be held on May 5 whereas the semifinals have been scheduled for May 8. The final will be held on May 12 at Khalifa Stadium.
