Bolga All Stars managed a 3-3 draw with giants Accra Hearts of Oak at the match day 13 of the Ghana Premier League but that was not the story of the day.

Chairman of Bolga All Stars and the Northern Regional Football Association, Abdullai Alhassan made history by being the first Executive Committee member to play a Ghana Premier League game when he came on for his club Bolga All Stars in the 65th minute and created the third goal for the club.

Speaking on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Abdullai Alhassan intimated that it was not his first time of laying for a local club since his return to Ghana and recounted his playing days as a professional footballer.

“I registered to play for my club when the second registration window opened and this is my first game. I decided to play to serve as a motivation for the players. I have been a professional footballer all along. I started with a colts club in Tamale called Great Eagles before I joined Nania FC where I played with, Andre Ayew, Lee Addy and Rahim Ayew among others. I then joined Sporting Mirren before joining FC Utrecht in Netherlands.” Abdullai told Happy FM.

The 30 year old Executive Committee member said football is something he loves and being in the Executive Committee shouldn’t stop him from doing what he loves.

“Football is something that I love and being at the EXCO shouldn’t stop me from doing what I love. It’s not my first time of play for my club though. I used to play for my Academy FC Utrecht but it’s only last year that I didn’t feature.” Abdullai said.

On how he relates with his players when he is on the field playing, Abdullai said he ceases to be the EXCO member and chairman of the club that he was.

“My players call me Abu when I’m on the field. When I put on the Jersey, I cease to become the EXCO member and chairman of Bolga All Stars that I am. I’m now playing for passion so I’m not playing to be scouted by another club since I’ve made my money from football already.” Abdullai Alhassan told Happy FM.
