Black Stars deputy skipper, Andre Ayew has urged Man City's Ivorian striker, Wilfried Bony to join him at Swansea City in order to be hailed as a hero.

Swansea have been linked with a move for their leading Premier League goalscorer (Bony) who left for City in a £25m deal in January last year

Bony watched on from the bench as Ayew and Kelechi Iheanacho traded goals in their 1-1-draw on on the final day of the season.

But Andre Ayew, who was spotted in discussions with the Ivory Coast frontman at the final whistle, reckons that Bony might feel he has unfinished business at the top – even if he said he'd be welcomed back to South Wales with open arms.

He said: “I spoke to Wilf at the end but I didn't tell him to come back but we all know he had two great seasons here and scored a lot of goals for the club.

"He went to a very big club and I do think he still wants to succeed there and hopefully, for him, he gets that opportunity – but if he wants to come back we will take him with open arms.”

Ayew, repeated his sentiment that he does not feel the front position is his best role, reiterated he would be happy to stay at Swansea, following suggestions they would be open to £10m-plus offers for the Ghanaian.

He said: “I don’t have much to say about that – I think you should ask the chairman.

“What is important for me is that I keep doing my work and the truth of today is not the truth of tomorrow.

“I’m happy here. If I have to stay, fine. If I have to leave, I have to leave.

“I want to stay. We have a fantastic group. We’ll have a discussion and see the way forward.”
