Andy Yiadom to stay at Barnsley after unsuccessful talks Huddersfield

Ghana young defender Andy Yiadom's proposed move to English Premier League side Huddersfield United has  been called off.

According to reports, Huddersfield  have pulled out of the deal after talks broke down.

The 25-year-old Ghana defender, who arrived from League Two side Barnet in May 2016, was a key target for the newly-promoted English Premier League side.

The defender looked set to join the Terriers this week after manager David Wagner revealed this week that they are in talks to sign the Ghana international right-back.

As a measure of facilitating the move, Barnsley even left the Ghana star out of Tuesday's clash with Nottingham and Saturday's home defeat by Ipswich having started their two previous games.

Now the Barnsley full-back will rejoin the Tykes squad this weekend after his proposed move to Huddersfield Town broke down between the club and the Terriers.

Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom confirms that Yiadom would rejoin the Barnsley squad ahead of their South Yorkshire derby against Sheffield United this weekend.

"Andy is back with us and could be involved this weekend," Heckingbottom said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

"This won't phase him, he's a level headed lad. He's our player." said boss Heckingbottom.

Barnsley had given Huddersfield the deadline of Thursday to conclude the deal for the player, who made 33 appearances for the Championship club last season.

Heckingbottom broke the news, citing a breakdown between Yiadom and Huddersfield.

Speculation is that Yiadom failed a medical that was reportedly scheduled for last Thursday whilst other rumours are that the player failed to agree personal terms with the Terriers.

This will be a blow to David Wagner after he confirmed that Huddersfield were very interested in making Yiadom an addition to their Premier League squad.

Huddersfield will now have to turn their attentions elsewhere with the name of Junior Sambia now circulating around West Yorkshire.
