Assistant coach of the Black Stars Maxwell Konadu has defend Avram Grant’s claiming that all his call ups are based on merits regardless of where the player is based.

The former West Ham United manager named only two home-based players in his team, Kadiri Mohammed of champions AshGold and Richard Ofori of Wa All Stars.

This move has reignited the debate on the quota given to home based players with some calling for the home-based players to be fused in.

But Maxwell Konadu says the exchange of words must cease and support should be given to any player who has been called up.

“I think the fans out there are saying we should have used a local squad, we should have left out some players," Konadu told the media.

“But I think we also have a manager who wants to be consistent as he is been doing so let’s all support the team.

“For me i don’t think is too wrong to call the same squad as people know”.

“We also have players in the team who have not been getting their chances to show what they can also do.” he added.
