Former Ghana international Samuel Osei Kuffour says the Black Stars need to prepare very well to win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations that will be staged in Gabon. Ghana will be hoping to get their fifth Africa Cup of Nations title after missing out narrowly in the last edition of the competition in Equatorial Guinea to Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars will play Rwanda at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 3 despite booking qualification for the 2017 AFCON.

The former Bayern Munich defender who has five Cup of Nations appearances to his credit says adequate preparation is the key to unlock Ghana’s Cup of Nations trophy drought.

“I think so because you can look at the game against Cote d’Ivoire. The destiny was in our own hands but we blew it up.” Sammy told Citi FM.

“When you play and you think the game is going to your favour you take your chances but we didn’t take our chances. We led 2-0 and then things turned around.

“Going into the Cup of Nations we still have the same team but we need to add few other players. In my view Sulley Muntari can come back to the team.

“We must ask ourselves whether Dede Ayew can be fit for the AFCON, can Asamoah Gyan have his momentum till the Cup of Nations?

“We have a good defensive setback, we got one of the best midfielders. But my worry is how we are going to prepare for the tournament.”
