Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has left England for Austria with his team Aston Villa for pre-season training. The 23-year-old was selected in manager Roberto Di Matteo’s 24-man party for the training camp to Austria.

The claret and blue group will fly out today ahead of a week-long stay, which will see intense workouts as the players build-up their fitness for the 2016/17 season.

Also joining Di Matteo will No.2 Steve Clarke, first team coach Kevin Bond, fitness coach Massimiliano Marchesi and goalkeeping coach Massimo Battara.

New defender Tommy Elphick, returning defender Jordan Amavi, young lions Gary Gardner and Jack Grealish as well as former skipper Stiliyan Petrov are all on board.

Missing are Adama Traoré and Jordan Lyden, who are both undergoing rehab on injuries.

Villa will play a friendly training match, too, as we face GAK Graz on Saturday.
