Stars Of The League- Round Two

Published on: 24 September 2017

Round two of the QNB Stars League saw four attackers stand out for their respective sides with key contributions. In our regular feature Stars of the League we highlight the key men.

Veteran Al Rayyan striker Sebastian Soria stood out as Al Rayyan comfortably defeated Al Kharaitiyat 3-1. The Qatar international striker grabbed two goals, and looked in fine form for the Lions and dovetailing with new summer signing Abdulrazak Hamdullah. Soria will now be hoping that he can continue his goalscoring heroics when Rayyan take on Al Duhail in the standout match of round 3.

Al Sadd Winger Jugurtha Hamroun registered a goal and two assists as the Wolves ran out 3-2 winnners against a spirited Sailiya side this weekend. The Algerian attacker has been one of the most consistant players over the last year in the league, and again this underline with his work on Friday evening.

Qatar SC picked up their first win of the season against fellow promoted side Al Markhiya thanks to a well taken strike by attacker Michael Babatunde. The Nigerian attacker was lively for the Kings throughout the game, and showed plenty of individual flair to beat two players and drill the ball into the back of the net on the 23rd minute. Babatunde and his team mates will be hoping they can continue their winning ways when they take on Al Arabi in round 3.

Al Duhail midfielder Yusef Msakni has been handed the captain’s armband this season, and the Tunisian attacker is embracing the responsibility certainly based on his performance against Al Arabi on Saturday evening. Msakni was a constant menace in attack for his side, and cooly sealed the win in the second half showing plenty of strength to shrug off a defender and slot the ball into the back of the net. Duhail has one of the strongest sides in the QNB Stars League, and Msakni has now stood out for a second week in a row for his side.
