Thomas Abbey confident of victory over Gambia in WAFU opener

Black Stars B midfielder Thomas Abbey is optimistic going into the opening game of the West Africa Football Union competition, insisting they will beat Gambia on Saturday.

The Accra Hearts of Oak winger has been in top form this season in the Ghana Premier League, having found the ack of the net 13 times and created four assist.

He is expected to replicate that form in the WAFU tournament and ahead of Sunday opener and the midfielder stated they will put the disappointed of CHAN behind them and win the WAFU tournament.

“We are feeling the pressure from Ghanaians especially after we got eliminated from the CHAN tournament.

“We are hosting this tournament and are determined to do things right this time and we are mentally strong going into Saturday’s encounter and hopefully we shall win for ourselves and the people of Ghana,” the Hearts midfielder said in an interview.

Ghana are hosting the tournament and are eager to win the tournament. They will play Gambia in the opener and Saturday.

Several countries have arrived for the tournament, including Sierra Leone and the Gambia.
