We will bring the World Cup trophy home- Black Starlets chief Abdul Salam Yakubu

Management member of the national under-17 team, Abdul Salam Yakubu has promised Ghanaians the team will bring the world cup home.

Ghana are returning to the world stage after a ten year absence and have been paired in group A, with host India, Colombia from South America and the United States.

The team has been preparing ahead of the FIFA world cup at the Ghana Soccer center of Excellence in Prampram. But, will leave for Abu Dhabi on Wednesday to continue with preparations.

Abdul Salam Yakubu, who is owner of division one side New Edubiase and a management member of the Black Starlets is very optimistic of the team’s chances.

“Where ever I am there is no failure and Ghanaians should just exercise patience for this Starlets team, we shall bring the trophy back home all that we need from Ghanaians is prayers,” Yakubu indicated

“We are just praying that by Wednesday the team will leave Ghana to continue the preparation abroad and get international exposure ahead of the tournament."

Gha are two times champions of the FIFA under-17 world Cup and Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin is hoping to end the 22 year wait for the trophy.
