Inter lose Hakimi after positive coronavirus test

Published on: 21 October 2020

Inter will be without Achraf Hakimi for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Borussia Monchengladbach after the Moroccan tested positive for COVID-19.

The news comes after Alessandro Bastoni and Radja Nainggolan returned to the fold after recovering from the virus.

“Achraf Hakimi has tested positive in the latest round of UEFA checks (required by hygiene protocols) undertaken ahead of tonight’s game against Borussia Mönchengladbach,” read a statement on the Inter website.

“The Inter full-back is totally asymptomatic and will now follow the procedure set out by the health protocol.”

Hakimi will now be quarantined for at least 10 days but will only return to action once he tests negative for the virus.

Roberto Gagliardini, Ionut Radu, Milan Skriniar and Ashley Young remain unavailable after still testing positive for coronavirus.
