Keen contests in Week 2 of Workers’ Cup

Defending champions Nakheel Landscapes made a big leap towards the Round of 16 of 2019 Workers’ Cup with another win in Group A, this time defeating DicoTech Qatar by a huge 17-1 margin in Week 2.

In the other match in Group A, Black Cat beat Youth Club 1-0.

The seventh edition of Workers’ Cup, the annual football tournament organised by the Qatar Stars League and sponsored by Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, had started on 7th December.

A total of 28 teams, equally divided into seven groups, are competing this year. Matches are played on Fridays at the Al Sadd Stadium. The final is scheduled for 25th January, 2019.

In Group B, Medgulf Construction qualified for the knockout stage after prevailing over CRC Dora 3-1 to register their second straight win.

In the group’s other fixture, Trags Engineering recorded a 4-2 victory over Trags & Agency Services.

Group C saw Larsen & Toubro come back from two goals down to hold Galfar Al Misnad to a 2-2 draw, while Spartan Ready Mix registered a 9-1 win over HBK Contracting.

In Group D, Doha Pest Control eked out a 1-0 win over Delta Doha Corp to move closer to qualification for the next round, whereas NAAAS Group got their first three points on board after scoring an entertaining 4-2 win over CCC.

In Group E, Mowasalat fought back from two goals down to notch a 6-2 win over Teyseer Services, thereby booking their place in the knockout stage.

The other game saw Shapoorji Pallonji continue their good run following a 4-0 victory over Aktor.

The first action in Group F ended in a 1-1 draw fought out between Petroserv and G4S. Both were penalty goals.

In the other game, Teyseer Security kept alive their hopes of reaching the Round of 16 after a 3-1 win over AG Middle East.

In Group G, Al Asmakh FM racked up a big 9-0 win over Boom Construction.

Later, Taleb Group booked a spot in the Round of 16 with a 4-1 verdict over Power International.
