Liverpool launch Cillessen raid

Liverpool have seen enough from Loris Karius in preseason to persuade them to bid for Barcelona keeper Jasper Cillessen, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Following his mistakes against Real Madrid in the Champions League final, Karius was spotted spilling a shot into the net as he warmed up for a friendly against Chester, before gifting Tranmere a goal in the Reds' next outing.

With Roma pricing Brazil No. 1 Alisson out of a move so far, Jurgen Klopp has switched his focus to a £30 million offer for Cillessen, who is believed to be seriously considering the proposal.

Cillessen has struggled for game time at Barcelona, but could also emerge as a target for Chelsea if the Blues are forced to cash in on contract rebel Thibaut Courtois.

It may have taken them a while to confirm Maurizio Sarri's appointment, but Chelsea are wasting no time in handing their new manager the tools to mount a Premier League title challenge.

After the Blues beat Manchester City to Jorginho over the weekend, Corriere dello Sport says they have now turned their attention to Serbia star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The 23-year-old shone for Lazio in Serie A last season -- claiming 12 goals and three assists -- and has been listed as a target for Juventus and Manchester United.

However, with Juve sealing a record-breaking deal for Cristiano Ronaldo, and United renewing Marouane Fellaini's contract, it appears Chelsea could now have a free run at the attacking midfielder.

The only problem is that Milinkovic-Savic could cost up to £90m, having signed a contract to stay in Rome until 2022.

Not such a Shaw thing

Luke Shaw is threatening to quit Manchester United on a free transfer unless he starts the season as Jose Mourinho's first choice left-back, says the Manchester Evening News.

The 23-year-old has endured a strained relationship with Mourinho at Old Trafford, but has been assured that he will be given a chance to impress in preseason.

Shaw is looking for more than a few friendly appearances, however, as he aims to dislodge Ashley Young from the first XI ahead of his contract expiring next summer.

Everton are thought to be monitoring the full-back's situation, with United tracking Alex Sandro and Kieran Tierney as potential replacements.

Tap-ins

- Everton are trying to put a deal together for Boca Juniors midfielder Wilmar Barrios, according to Sport Witness. The Colombia international, who has an €18m release clause, was caught planting a casual head butt on England's Jordan Henderson at the World Cup.

- Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas isn't ruling out renewed negotiations with Liverpool over Nabil Fekir, says the Liverpool Echo. Klopp still wants to add an attacking midfielder to his squad, and could revive a €55m move for the 24-year-old World Cup winner.

- Andy Carroll may soon be off to Besiktas on loan, reports 90min. West Ham are apparently looking to offload the striker after he suffered another injury setback in preseason.
