Umm Salal coach Raul Caneda spoke to the media ahead of their QNB Stars League Week 22 match against Al Sadd.
“We are facing the new champions, so we will play with all our strength and abilities to get a positive result. We are not focusing on the Al Sadd team and my focus will be on my team. Our goal is to play for victory. We suffered a big loss against Al Shahania last week. The result of the previous game must have a positive impact on the players and we expect a positive reaction from them.
“When we talk about Xavi, he is one of the best players from Spain. This may be his last game for Al Sadd. The Spanish team was at its best during his prime and they won three major tournaments in a row.
“For the next season, I think Umm Salal have to make changes. When I took over, we had gone many games without winning. The onus is on the team management to change players next season.
“We have to be clear with ourselves. I am fairly satisfied with the work I have done, but the situation has been difficult and we needed to do much more. The time has come to rebuild the team,” said Caneda.
