Draw made for GCC Cup

The draw for the 23rd GCC Cup was made on Monday 25th September in Doha. The tournament which will take place in Doha between the 22nd December to the 5th of January 2018 has seven participating teams.

Tournament hosts and champions of the 22nd edition Qatar, was placed at the top of Group A. With Saudi Arabia, the runners-up of the 22nd edition at the top of Group B. Participating teams where seeded into three pots for the draw according to their FIFA standing for the month of September. Pot A had UAE and Iraq, pot B had Oman and Bahrain and finally on pot three was the Yemeni national team. 

The draw results are as follows:

Group A: Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Yemen.

Group B: Saudi Arabia, Oman. UAE. 

Kuwait how are under an international suspension from FIFA, will join the tournament if they manage to get that decision overturned in time for tournament. During the ceremony, the new logo of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Confederation, which emphasises unity and cohesion at the Gulf House, was unveiled.
