The Al-Sadd football first team held its main training session on Wednesday at the club’s training facility, as part of the preparations for the upcoming QNB Stars League Round 15 game against Al-Shahaniya, which will be played on Friday at the Grand Hamad Stadium.

The Wolves go into the game sitting in second place in the league table with 32 points from 13 games, with a delayed game against Al-Duhail yet to be played. Al-Shahaniya, on the other hand, are in 9th place with 16 points from 14 games. The first phase meeting between the two sides ended in a 4-0 win for Al-Sadd.

During Wednesday’s session, head coach Jesualdo Ferreira and his staff worked on choosing their options for the starting lineup, amidst a great amount of competition in the team for the spots.

Ferreira held a meeting with the players before the session and spoke to them about the team’s objectives in the upcoming phase, especially considering it will be an important game before the crucial clash against Al-Duhail on Tuesday.

The head coach then made the players compete against each other in a practice mini game, during which he made interventions to correct certain errors.

Team captain Xavi Hernandez played a prominent part in training on Wednesday, after returning to the squad following his recovery from a muscle injury.

Meanwhile, Ferreira and Hassan Ahmed are set to attend the pre-match press conference, which will be held at the conference hall at the club on Thursday.
