Al-Sadd lose 3-2 to Chongqing Lifan

Al-Sadd fell to a 3-2 defeat to Chinese side Chongqing Lifan in a practice friendly played on Saturday at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium.

The game provided an opportunity for the Wolves to give playing time for a number of young players, amidst the absence of the team’s Qatari internationals.

Chongqing went ahead in the 4th minute through Fernandinho before Ali Asad equalised for Al-Sadd in the 15th minute. Fernandinho then scored again in the 31st minute to give the Chinese side a 2-1 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Baghdad Bounedjah levelled the scores by netting in the 70th minute. Three minutes later, Fernandinho completed his hat-trick by scoring his team’s third goal, which proved to be the winner.

Al-Sadd started the game with the following line-up: Saoud Al-Hajri, Abdullah Ismail, Hussain Bahzad, Hamid Ismail, Mahmoud Nader, Gabi, Yasir Abubakar, Adam Faisal, Ali Asad, Baghdad Bounedjah and Hassan Ahmed.

Talal Ibrahim, Khaled Al Yazidi, Saoud Al Nasr, Meshaal Ibrahim and Alhussein Al Malki came on as substitutes in the second half.
