Al-Sadd maintain top spot after 6-2 win over Al-Khor

Akram Afif netted a hat-trick as Al-Sadd kept hold of top spot in the QNB Stars League table with a huge 6-2 win over Al-Khor in the Round 16 game played at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday. The result took Al-Sadd’s points tally to 41.

The Wolves opened the scoring through Afif, who netted two quick-fire goals which came in the 7th and 10th minutes respectively. The first goal saw Afif finish off a pass from Hassan Al Haydos, while the second was a fierce shot off an assist from Gabi.

In the 14th minute, Wagner reduced the deficit with Al-Khor’s first goal after converting Thiago’s cross from the right.

Hamed Ismail then scored in the 42nd minute, controlling Al-Haydos’ pass and then finishing past Mohammed Al-Bakri in the Al-Khor goal to give Al-Sadd a 3-1 lead at halftime.

Al-Sadd continued scoring after the restart, with substitute Jung Woo-young curling in a free-kick in the 55th minute. Baghdad Bounedjah then made it 5-1 just two minutes later with a shot from outside the box.

Afif completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute by latching on to Bounedjah’s through ball and finishing past the keeper. Thiago then scored a consolation goal for Al-Khor from the penalty spot in the second minute of injury time.
