Doha, Qatar: Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony struck in his fourth consecutive match for Al Arabi but this time he scored an own goal as well, as the Reds lost to Al Gharafa 1-2 in the QNB Stars League on Friday.

Former Manchester City and Swansea City striker Bony opened the scoring in the second minute of the match with a neat finish from close range for his fifth goal in four games, only for Ahmed Alaaeldin to equalise five minutes later with a superb first-time strike from a tight angle.

However, Alaaeldin turned from hero to villain when he got the marching orders in the 48th minute leaving Gharafa with 10 men for the whole of the second half.

The Cheetahs did not lose heart and an unfortunate deflection from Bony took Vladimir Weiss’ free-kick from the right into the Arabi net.

The win took Gharafa’s tally to 22 points while Arabi remained on 27.
