Cavani concerns for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have doubts over the fitness of Edinson Cavani ahead of the Champions League clash at Manchester United after he picked up a thigh injury.

The French champions make the trip to Old Trafford on Tuesday for the first leg of their last-16 tie but could be without two of their star names.

Neymar has already been ruled out due to a broken metatarsal and he could be joined by Cavani in watching from home after the Uruguayan forward left Saturday's Ligue 1 clash with Bordeaux early.

The 31-year-old scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot as the Parisians went 13 points clear at the top of the table before needing to be replaced at half-time.

After the clash, PSG boss Thomas Tuchel said he was concerned about the state of his topscorer and fears he could miss Tuesday's encounter.

"There is no good news this morning," Tuchel told Telefoot on Sunday. "He has undergone exams and there will be more tests here at the training centre.

"My feeling is that it will be very difficult for him to feature in Manchester.

"In any case, we must wait a bit more as the exams are still ongoing. The club will communicate on this a bit later.

"I think that the news will not be very good. I still have a little hope, but the first tests were not good.

"I am worried, but only because we are missing key players. In matches like these, decisive Champions League games, you absolutely need your key men as they are experienced in handling pressure in matches like this one."

However, there was better news on midfielder Marco Verratti with Tuchel saying he was confident he would feature against United.

PSG have already been beaten by a Premier League side this season, going down to a 3-2 defeat at Liverpool and United are 5/4 to come out on top on Tuesday.

The Parisians are 7/2 to win the first leg and the draw is 5/2.

PSG are 15/2 to win the Champions League title this season.
