David Ospina joins Napoli on loan from Arsenal with option for permanent move

David Ospina has completed a loan move to Napoli, with the Italian club holding the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Colombia No. 1 Osipna was demoted to third-choice at Arsenal under new boss Unai Emery, who brought in Bernd Leno to battle Petr Cech for a starting spot. Napoli are reported to be paying €1 million for the one-year loan and would have to pay an €4m in the summer to make the move permanent.

He moved to the Emirates from Nice in 2014 but has played just 27 Premier League matches.

Napoli had been in the market for a new goalkeeper for much of the summer and Guillermo Ochoa appeared to be their preferred choice. However, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis ruled out a move for the Mexico international due to him not being an EU citizen.

Having lost Pepe Reina, Napoli signed 21-year-old Alex Meret as a replacement -- only for the former Udinese man to suffer a broken arm in training which has ruled him out for the start of the Serie A campaign.

Napoli begin the season with trip to Lazio before welcoming AC Milan for their second match.
