Facing Al Sailiya a difficult task: Al Wakrah coach Marquez

Published on: 25 November 2020

Al Wakrah coach Marquez Lopez spoke to the media ahead of their 2020-21 season QNB Stars League Week 7 match against Al Sailiya.

“We had only four days to prepare for the match. This is a kind of suffering for all teams and not just Al Wakrah. Anyway, I will choose the best to play against Al Sailiya.

“It is a difficult match of course, but I think this week was good for us because it passed without injuries for the first time this season.

“For me, Al Sailiya are a very good team and have a distinguished coach who provides the team with everything. I believe they are one of the strongest teams, after Al Gharafa, Al Sadd and Al Duhail. For me, Al Sailiya work very well.

“We lost more than three players due to injuries – and to replace them is not easy, especially players such as Isais (Sanchez) and Ahmed Moein. It was difficult to include reserve players who would play in other than their regular positions that they are used to. The reserve players do not have playing experience. These things happen and I will complain on losing the players. But of course, winning matches will be difficult when you lose big players and although some of them will recover, it is difficult to push them in the next match.”

Al Wakrah player Ali Karami said, “We did not put up the performance that was required of us in the last match against Qatar SC. The time was short to prepare before Al Sailiya game, but the coach did his best to equip the team and the players. We have an appropriate plan to fight against our opponents”.

“Facing Al Sailiya is not easy at all as it is a team that has all the capabilities. At the same time, we are ready for this clash and we are seeking to compensate for the loss we suffered last week.”
