Gennaro Gattuso was full of praise for his Napoli side after they crushed Roma 4-0 at the Stadio San Paolo in the late kick-off on Sunday night.
“It was a wonderful performance from us,” said Gattuso after the game. “We looked organised tonight and showed intensity and character. When the lads play like that, we really show what we can do. I liked the way we competed too – we dug in at key times. It’s vital we have the right mentality.
“We helped each other out because it wasn’t an easy game, despite the result. That’s the kind of team I want to see. When I get angry, my players know what I want to say and they know I’m thinking about how good this group is.”
Gattuso also looked back over Napoli’s record so far this season.
“You can’t always be at 100%, but you need to be able to show the right level of determination and maximum focus,” he said. “Out of 12 games played, we’ve won nine and lost three. I don’t know what’s expected of us, but I do know that this group is doing great things.
“Sadly we’ve been docked a point in the league, but I view that as a point earned on the pitch, because we were on the bus on the Saturday before Juventus v Napoli…”
