Kuala Lumpur: Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia booked their places in the 2019 AFC U20 Futsal Championship Finals on Saturday.

The ASEAN Zone had five teams - Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam - who played in a league format, with the top three teams qualifying for the Finals next year.

Thailand, host of the 2019 edition, decided to participate in the Qualifiers, and in the event they occupied one of the top three positions, the next best in the same zone would qualify for the Finals.

INDONESIA 9-0 MYANMAR

Bangkok: Indonesia outclassed Myanmar 9-0 at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium to secure their spot in the Thailand 2019 Finals.

After a 3-3 draw with Vietnam in their opener, followed by a 4-2 win over Malaysia, this win against Myanmar placed them on top of the standings with seven points, tied with Thailand but ahead on goal difference.

Muhammad Syaifullah broke the deadlock as early as the third minute, before Rizal Musthofa and Firman Adriansyah scored in the ninth and 11th minutes respectively.

In the final three minutes of the first half, Ramadhan Zidani (17th), Musthofa(18th), Muhammad Sanjaya (19th) and Dewa Rizki Amanda (20th) found the back of the net to rack up a seven-goal lead going into the break.

Myanmar returned to the pitch more clear headed and held a tighter defence, but Indonesia were still able to penetrate through Mohammad Afif Rizky’s effort on 29 minutes.

Sanjaya scored the final goal of the night in the 35th minute to seal a convincing win.

Indonesia will book their spot in the Finals as ASEAN winners if they beat Thailand on Sunday.

The defeat for Myanmar meant they sit at the bottom of the standings with no matches remaining, a favourable result for fourth placed Malaysia, as they qualified for the Finals as the region's third best team with one game left to play.

VIETNAM 1-1 THAILAND

Thailand were able to salvage a 1-1 draw with Vietnam, courtesy of Nattasak Photi’s goal in the second half.

Vietnam took the lead through Woen who ended the stalemate in 13th minute.

Thailand, however, fought back and their equaliser came in the 28th minute through Photi.

Already through as hosts, Thailand are second in the standings, followed by Vietnam in third with five points.
