Inter and AC Milan consider tearing down San Siro

AC Milan and and Inter are considering plans that would see them build a new stadium adjacent to the San Siro, which would be demolished.

Both side’s continue to explore options regarding a new home, and up until recently, the most likely outcome appeared to be renovating the Meazza.

Those plans could change however, with Corriere della Sera reporting that new AC Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis would prefer a new stadium be built.

One of the options being discussed is a new venue that would be built right beside the San Siro.

The plans would see the two clubs buy land that is a disused race course just east of the stadium, which is currently up for sale and used for parking.

That area would then be converted into a modern stadium, while the current San Siro would either be demolished or used for other purposes.

Those plans haven’t been met favourably by the local government however, as they would prefer to lease the land where the San Siro stands, with both teams then investing in its renovation.
