MATCH REPORT: Sharks pip Dwarfs in derby

Joseph Dabitoria scored the only goal of the game for Elmina Sharks as the beat rivals Ebusua Dwarfs at the Ndoum Stadium.

 

The striker lashed on to a slick pass from Benjamin Tweneboah in the 69minute to grab all three points for the newcomers.

 

Both Sharks and Dwarfs began the game cautiously with none of the teams threatening at goal.

 

However, Dwarfs had the first shot on target after Raphael Mensah’s fee kick was parried away by Sharks goal keeper Francis Arthur.

 

The crabs began dominating the game causing troubles for the sharks as Joseph Esau and Nicholas Gyan came close to getting the opener.

 

With the game barren after the first half Dwarfs returned making some substitutions bringing on Albert Hammond for Nicholas Gyan.

 

Ebusua Dwarfs continued with the first half form piling on pressure on pressure but still failed to find the target.

 

Sharks however, took advantage of a counter attack when pacy winger Benjamin Tweneboah set up a perfect pass for striker Joseph Dabitoria tapped in for the only goal.

 

The final minutes of the game was frenzy as Benjamin Tweneboah got kicked by the Dwarfs defense.

 

The coaches lost their cool on the touch line but the fourth referee settled the nerves as Sharks secured a vital win in a crucial derby.
