OFFICIAL - Reading sign Conor LAWLESS on first pro deal

Published on: 26 September 2018

Through the following note, Reading announced having signed English 2001-born left-back Conor Lawless on his first deal as a professional.

"We’re delighted to announce that Conor Lawless has signed his first professional contract with Reading FC.

The young attacker put pen to paper on his first pro contract on his 17th birthday at Hogwood Park earlier this month – another great step in his fledgling career.

Despite only embarking on the start of his two-year scholarship at our Academy this summer, Lawless in fact made his Under-18 debut two seasons ago at the age of 15.

He was involved in our U18 fixtures on regular occasions last season, despite still being an Under-16 player; his full debut came against Norwich City in March, and then scored his first goal at that level away at Aston Villa the following month.

And he has been into the thick of the action immediately this season too; now a regular starter for the Royals U18s, it was his fine solo strike that earned the Royals a point in their U18 Premier League visit to Tottenham earlier this month, just two days after his 17th birthday.

Congratulations to Conor and his family on this achievement, and we look forward to seeing his continued progress here at Reading".
