Al Sailiya face Al Khor in Round 1 (Group A) of the 2020-21 season Ooredoo Cup at the Al Gharafa Stadium on Saturday.
Both Al Sailiya and Al Khor will be eager to make a solid start to their campaign.
After three weeks’ action in the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League, Al Sailiya are sixth with four points. The Peregrines, who finished in the fifth position in the 2019-20 season QNB Stars League which was below-par compared to their third place in the previous league championship, their best ever in history, will look for positive result against Al Khor, who had to retain their place in the top flight by defeating Second Division runners-up Al Markhiya in play-off after finishing a lowly 11th.
Al Sailiya had reinforced their squad ahead of the new season and the likes of Mohanad Ali, Tiago Bezerra and Ahmed Hammoudan, along with Mohammad Muddathar and Abdulqadir Ilyas are capable of delivering the goods.
On the other hand, Al Khor are undergoing a transition in terms of technical staff and players, especially overseas professionals. The Knights, who stand 10th in the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League, will certainly use this tournament to try out various combinations.
