Oxford Winger Marvin Johnson Being Watched by Midlands Trio Aston Villa, Birmingham and West Brom

Aston Villa, Birmingham and West Brom are all keeping tabs on promising Oxford winger, Marvin Johnson, according to theBirmingham Mail.

The left-sided midfielder has been one of the standout players in League One this season with the Blues and Albion sending scouts to watch the 26-year-old.

Villa have not sent scouts to Oxford as of yet, however, they have monitored Johnson at previous clubs and are aware of the qualities he possesses.

Scoring five goals in 38 games so far this season, the talented wide man could be on the move yet again after something of a journeyman career.

Born in Birmingham, Johnson had spells at Solihull Moors, Coleshill Town, Romulus, Kidderminster Harriers and Hednesford before finally making it as a professional in Scotland with Motherwell.

Capable of playing left-back or left-wing, the Oxford man would be a welcome edition for any of the Midlands trio.

Villa and Birmingham are both desperately in need of reinforcements with both sides enduring horrific seasons in the Championship.

As for Tony Pulis' Albion side, they too could do with some fresh blood, particularly as they have had problems at left-back all season.

Jonny Evans, Chris Brunt and Allan Nyom have all had to deputise in the role with neither of them a natural fit in the position.

As for Johnson, a move to either of the three mentioned would be a huge step in his career path.

It remains to be seen whether he could make it in England's top two divisions, but after a hugely impressive spell in the third-tier, he may have what it takes to succeed.
