Pioli: AC Milan can’t relax

Published on: 05 November 2020

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli firmly believes that his team must continue to improve, despite their formidable start to the new season, if they are to stay at the top of Serie A.

The Rossoneri have remained unbeaten in all competitions since the 2020/21 season got underway in September and currently sit at the top of the Serie A table having won five of their opening six league games.

“I really don’t think the team can relax. Our strength has always been balance,” Pioli said during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

“We know what the game concepts are, the team is aware of what it is doing. We know we have to grow further and improve, but also of the advantages that derive from our behaviours.”

However, despite Milan’s fantastic start to the season the 55-year-old believes that his young squad will face stiffer challenges in the coming weeks, as other teams begin to fine tune their preparations to deal with the new self assured Rossoneri.

“The opposing teams are preparing well to face us and put us in more and more difficulties,” he added.

“We are a very young team that has not won anything and there is a great desire to do so.”
