DOHA: Amateur side Al Bidda has been accorded club status by the Qatar Football Association’s (QFA) Executive Committee.
Al Bidda will now be allowed to appear in all QFA-sanctioned events in the on-going football season.

With long-term development of the sport at heart, QFA has made the decision to see well organised outfits like Al Bidda the chance to play Second Division matches in the 2018-19 season.

The Executive Committee issued Resolution No. (16) of 2018 to allow Al Bidda the rights of a football club.

If Al Bidda do well and top the second Division, the new club can be promoted to QNB Qatar Stars League, the country’s top professional football league.

Al Bidda have been advised to give written consent before appearing in QFA-samctiomed events. Al Bidda are bound by QFA rules and regulations before appearing in football events.

The new club was informed that Article 3 of the Executive Committee’s decision stipulates that the QFA reserves the right to withdraw the team’s participation in the competitions at any time without giving reasons.

Al Bidda sports team has been participating in the Qatar Amateur League organized by the QFA for the last three seasons.

The team has shown considerable improvement in performances and overall player management, QFA observed.

However, the team is not a member of QFA and is not a legal entity and therefore has no legal status in accordance with the laws of the State of Qatar, QFA said.

The team intends to become a legal entity in the near future in accordance with the laws of the State of Qatar.

Upon its establishment as a legal entity, the Al Bidda intends to apply for membership with QFA.

The team management has agreed to provide funding and resources for the performance of its sports activities without seeking financial contribution from QFA.
