DOHA: A large number of participants featured last week in a special workshop hosted by the Qatar Football Association (QFA).
The workshop was conducted for up and coming match commissioners and coordinators by QFA’s Department of Competitions from Sept 12 to 13 at Rotana Hotel.
The Department of Competitions’ accredited Asian lecturer Alisher Nikimbayev headed the event. He was joined by Mohammed Mubarak Al-Mohannadi to distribute certificates at the end of the workshop.
The workshop aimed at expanding the participation of Qatari youth in this field and providing them with the best opportunity to be match commissionersand coordinators.
Ali Hammoud Al Nuaimi, Head of Competitions, opened the workshop with a welcoming speech for the 66 participants. He urged the participants to take advantage of such series of lecturers in the presence of Hussain Al-Sharshani, the workshop’s general coordinator.
The coming period will see their participation in league fixtures at various levels to gain experience.
The ones who perform best will be selected to participate in the official matches. They will be under the supervision of observers and coordinators accredited by QFA.
The workshop underlined the mechanism, role and functions of a coordinator and a commissioner in various events and competitions. A detailed Q&A session also followed the lectures on each day of the workshop.
There were detailed discussions on the rules of the game of football in addition to the work of a coordinator during matches.
The participants praised the great benefit they received during the workshop, especially as it was characterized by fruitful discussions and targeted thesis.
