QNB Stars League Week 11 — Al Gharafa vs Al Shahania

Published on: 30 October 2018

Both Al Gharafa and Al Shahania will be high on confidence when they face off in Week 11 of the QNB Stars League on Friday, 2nd November. The kick-off is at 17:15 at the Al Gharafa Stadium.

Al Gharafa defeated Al Khor 6-0, the biggest victory margin of Week 10, while Al Shahania held Umm Salal to a 1-1 draw in the last round.

The fourth win took Al Gharafa’s points to 14 and they are seventh in the standings. The Cheetahs have recorded two draws and suffered four defeats to have a goal difference of +7, having scored 22 goals and conceded 15.

On the other hand, Al Shahania are placed 10th with 11 points. They have three victories, five defeats and two draws against them. Their goal difference is -8 (10 goals for and 18 against).

If Al Gharafa have players of great skills, especially in attack, Al Shahania rely more on team work that has helped them stand in good stead among the bigwigs of QNB Stars League.

Al Gharafa, coached by Frenchman Christian Gourcuff, will surely target three points in their bid to break into the top four. The Cheetahs have got back the services of Dutch star Wesley Sneijder, who excels in the role of an attacking midfielder.

Al Gharafa also have the likes of in-form Vladimir Weiss, Mehdi Taremi and Ahmed Alaaeldin.

Al Shahania will miss the services of Argentinian striker Luciano Vazquez who received a red card during their game against Umm Salal.

However, Jose Murcia’s team have players such as Alvaro Perez, Kesse Amanguoa and Younis Yacoub in their ranks.
