QNB Stars League Week 11 — Umm Salal vs Al Sadd

Published on: 30 October 2018

Al Sadd will look to regain the lost ground when they take on Umm Salal in Week 11 of the QNB Stars League on Friday, 2nd November. The kick-off is at 19:25 at the Al Gharafa Stadium.

Al Sadd had suffered a 1-4 defeat at the hands of Al Ahli last week and that dealt a serious blow to their hopes of regaining the league shield. In the process, The Wolves had slipped from second to third in the table.

Al Sadd have 17 points from eight games with five wins, two draws and one defeat. They have a goal difference of +25, the most by any team, having scored 33 goals and conceded eight.

Against Al Ahli, Al Sadd players were seemingly tired psychologically as they had yet to recover from their defeat to Iran’s Persepolis in the AFC Champions League semifinal.

After 10 rounds of matches, Al Sadd have the advantage of having played two games less due to their AFC Champions League engagements.

Tournament top scorer and Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah leads Al Sadd’s charge. They also boast of players like Hassan Al Haydous, Akram Afif, Xavi Hernandez and Gabi Fernandez.

Umm Salal are placed fifth with 15 points. They have four wins, three draws and as many defeats against them. The Orange Fortress’ goal difference is -1 (15 goals for and 16 against).

Yannick Sagbo, Mahmoud Al Mawas and Dheyab Al Inabi mainly lead Umm Salal’s charge.
