Al Shahania face a tough task when they host Al Sadd at the Al Arabi Stadium, where they play their home matches, in Week 15 of the QNB Stars League on Friday, 7th December. The kick-off is at 18:30.
Al Sadd are second in the table with 32 points, three behind holders Al Duhail. Both these teams have a game in hand.
The Al Sadd vs Al Duhail game, rescheduled from Week 9 because of the former’s engagement in the AFC Champions League where they exited in the semifinals after losing out to Iran’s Persepolis on aggregate, will be played on 11th December.
The winners of this game are sure to have an upper hand in the 2018-19 season QNB Stars League title race.
The Wolves have the most number of wins (10), after Al Duhail (11). They also have two draws and a defeat (to Al Ahli) against their name. Al Sadd’s goal difference is +46 (58 goals for and 12 against), the most by any team.
Al Sadd, coached by Portuguese Jesualdo Ferreira, have a star-studded line-up compared to Al Shahania who rely more on team spirit.
Al Sadd will not want any slip-up in their bid to regain the league shield, while Al Shahania will look to collect as many points as possible even though they are somewhat safe from the relegation threat.
The promoted side has been doing well under Spanish coach Jose Murcia.
Al Sadd defeated Al Gharafa 8-1 and Al Shahania held Al Khor 1-1 in Week 14.
Al Sadd had beaten Al Shahania 4-0 in the first leg.
