The Qatar Clasico between Al Rayyan and Al Sadd is the high point among the 2019-20 QNB Stars League’s Week 17 fixtures, to be played on Thursday, 5th March, Friday, 6th March, and Saturday, 7th March, with two matches on each day.
The fixtures are Umm Salal vs Al Shahania (16:55, Al Gharafa Stadium), Al Gharafa vs Al Wakrah (19:05, Al Gharafa Stadium) on Thursday, Al Ahli vs Qatar SC (16:55, Qatar SC Stadium), Al Arabi vs Al Khor (19:05, Al Arabi Stadium) on Friday, Al Sailiya vs Al Duhail (16:55, Al Ahli Stadium) and Al Rayyan vs Al Sadd (19:05, Al Sadd Stadium) on Saturday.
The Qatar Clasico evoks a keen interest among all stakeholders — players, fans, technical staff, sponsors, officials and administrators alike. The whole event is so unique that it catches the attention of the entire football family in Qatar and beyond, making it a complete festival of football.
Al Rayyan are second in the table with 35 points and Al Sadd just behind them with three points less. The duo and leaders Al Duhail (39 points) are the three title contenders for this season’s league shield.
Al Rayyan had beaten Al Sadd 4-2 in the first-leg Qatar Clasico this season.
Al Duhail are up against Al Sailiya (fifth with 23 points).
In-form Umm Salal (11th with 13 points) and bottom-placed Al Shahania (nine points) will face off in the week’s opener.
That will be followed by Al Gharafa (fourth with 25 points) vs Al Wakrah (seventh with 19 points) match on Thursday.
Al Ahli (eighth with 18 points) take on Qatar SC (ninth with 16 points) in Friday’s first game.
Next up on the day are Al Arabi (sixth with 21 points) and Al Khor (10th with 14 points).
