QNB Stars League Week 4 — Al Arabi 5 Umm Salal 1

Al Arabi raced to an emphatic 5-1 victory over QNB Stars League rivals Umm Salal in their Week 4 match at the Al Sadd Stadium on Saturday.

The home side grabbed the goals through Mohamed El Neel (14th minute and 90+1), Gaser Zakaria (20th), Franco Arizala (66th) and Mailson Farias (90+5).

Umm Salal pulled one back through Yannick Sagbo in the 60th minute.

A match that was billed as crucial in the race for the top-four positions was quickly taken control of by Al Arabi who asserted their dominance from the outset.

They were duly rewarded with only 15 minutes on the clock as Diego Jardel chased down a smart through ball before surging into the box, holding off his player and laying off a perfectly-weighted pass for El Neel to nip in unmarked and poke home.

Number two of the night came as Zakaria was on hand to tap in an easy chance from close range following an attack down the left. Sagbo did pull a goal back for Umm Salal after controlling and then unleashing a powerful volley.

Al Arabi quickly restored their two-goal advantage as Abdullah Marafi skipped past three oncoming players before playing an exquisite through ball that Arizala was on hand to dink over the keeper.

The home side was not in the mood to slow down which was emphasised in injury time as Mailson played a slide rule pass across the face of the box which El Neel was happy to convert.

Moments later, the scoring was completed when Bilal Mohammed brought down Mailson in the box to receive his second yellow as the referee pointed to the spot. Mailson stepped up to convert and round off a disappointing night for Umm Salal who will have much work to do going forward.
