Published on: 01 October 2018

Al Duhail got the better of Al Gharafa 4-2 in a fast-paced encounter in Week 6 of the QNB Stars League on Saturday.

A double by Yousef El Arabi (9th and 42nd-min penalty) and Nam Tae-Hee’s brace (62nd and 88th) paved the way for Al Duhail’s win.

For Al Gharafa, the goals were scored by Vladimir Weiss (16th-min penalty) and Mehdi Taremi (51st-min penalty).

Al Duhail opened the scoring through a brilliant finish by El Arabi. After picking up a cross from centre of the field, the Moroccan striker outpaced his marker Amro Seraj before firing a shot towards the goal from inside the Al Gharafa box.

Goalkeeper Yousef Hassan palmed the ball away, but El Arabi took aim a second time and found the net.

Al Duhail goalkeeper Amin Lecomte brought down Taremi and the referee promptly pointed to the penalty spot. Weiss calmly converted the penalty as Al Gharafa equalised. It was Weiss’ fourth goal of the season.

El Arabi added to his season tally when he converted an easy penalty in the 42nd minute. The forward was brought down by Amro inside the box and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. It was El Arabi’s fifth goal.

Al Gharafa equalised a second time early in the second half when Taremi converted a penalty, beating the Al Duhail keeper with a shot to his right.

Close to the hour-mark, El Arabi produced a snap-header that crashed into the Al Gharfa crossbar and the ball bounced back without causing any harm.

But Al Duhail were not to be denied when Nam curled in the ball from inside the Al Gharafa box. The ball swung late and crashed into the net, giving Nam his fourth goal of the season.

Just before the end, the playmaker scored his second from close range.
