Al Arabi got back to the winning path as they defeated Al Shahania 3-0 in Week 6 of the QNB Stars League on Thursday.
Brazilian striker Mailson de Farias (22nd minute) and Mohammed El Neel (58th minute) scored for Al Arabi, who played in front of home fans.
Al Shahania captain Alvaro Perez netted an own goal in the 84th minute.
Al Shahania spearhead Vazquez Luciano scored after just 47 seconds into the game, but the goal was ruled offside.
Al Arabi’s third victory took their points tally to 12 and they went top of the standings after Thursday’s action, while Al Shahania stood at seven points.
Al Arabi had won in Weeks 3 and 4, but lost to Al Rayyan last week.
On the other hand, promoted Al Shahania had beaten Qatar SC in Week 5 for their second win in the tournament.
Al Arabi had the edge right from the start and they promptly took the lead through Mailson whose shot went in with a deflection off Alvaro.
Al Shahania came back from the breather with more energy. Sultan Al Kuwari came up with a long-ranger which Al Arabi goalkeeper Masoud Zarayi blocked.
Seven minutes later, El Neel was on target almost through a solo effort. Brazilian midfielder Diego Jardel picked the ball from deep into the Al Arabi half. Other than that, El Neel was on his own en route to netting his third goal in the tournament.
Al Shahania threw all men into attack afterwards even as Al Arabi found the mark again through an own goal scored by Al Shahania’s Alvaro, who headed into his own goal after Gaser Yahia sent a long through ball.
