QNB Stars League Week 7 — Qatar SC 1 Al Sadd 5

Published on: 27 September 2018

Al Sadd recorded a 5-1 victory over hosts Qatar SC in Week 7 of the QNB Stars League on Thursday.

Hamed Ismail (13th minute), Baghdad Bounedjah (20th), Akram Afif (29th), Xavi Hernandez (58th) and Ahmed Sayyar (90+3) netted the goals for Al Sadd.

Bounedjah remained as the top scorer with 14 goals. Akram is second with eight goals to his credit.

Cameroonian star Samuel Eto’o scored Qatar SC’s only goal in the 40th minute.

Al Sadd coach Jesualdo Ferreira had said they wanted a morale booster ahead of their AFC Champions League semifinal against Iran’s Persepolis and The Wolves did get that.

Al Sadd thus stayed on top of the QNB Stars League standings with 16 points. Al Duhail, who beat Al Ahli 2-1 in the day’s early kick-off, also have the same number of points, but are behind on goal difference.

Al Sadd had defeated Al Rayyan in the Qatar Clasico by a 5-0 margin last week.

Al Sadd earned a penalty when Qatar SC’s Omar Al Emadi fouled Ali Asad inside the penalty box. However, Bounedjah’s kick went over the bar.

Al Sadd dominated the game throughout, as the scoreline indicates.

Hamed’s opening goal came as a result of a free-kick taken by Xavi from the left.

Bounedjah doubled the lead, with Abdulkarim Hassan providing the assist.

Akram found the mark off a pass from Xavi, who then scored himself with a direct free-kick.

Ahmed Sayyar rounded off the tally by slotting home a rebound on the stroke of final whistle.

Eto’o produced The Kings’ consolation following an attack led by Qatar SC’s Iraqi recruit Hussein Ali.
