QSL Cup Round 1 results on Sunday

The 2018-19 season QSL Cup saw three matches being played on Sunday in Group B. Al Sadd beat Al Shahania 3-0 at the Qatar SC Stadium, Al Rayyan defeated Al Ahli 3-0 at the Al Gharafa Stadium and Al Khor prevailed over Al Sailiya 2-1 at the Al Duhail Stadium.

Al Sadd 3 Al Shahania 0

Al Sadd scored a 3-0 victory against Al Shahania after both teams put up an impressive performance in the first half which ended goalless.

Al Sadd fielded many stars, including Xavi Hernandez, Gabi, Ali Asad, Hamed Ismail, Yasser Abubaker and Musab Khader, while players such as Baghdad Bounedjah and Qatar internationals were absent because of national duty.

In the first half, Al Sadd tried to attack strongly as they had most of the ball.

They went ahead in the 48th minute through Hamed and added the second goal in the 63rd through Hassan Ahmed, with Xavi doing the spadework.

Al Shahania tried to reduce the gap even as their players missed a lot of opportunities. Meanwhile, Al Sadd scored again through Saud Al Nasr in the 88th minute.

Al Rayyan 3 Al Ahli 0

Rodrigo Tabata (37th minute), and Sebastian Soria (39th and 82nd minutes) scored the goals as Al Rayyan collected full points.

Al Rayyan played with players such as goalkeeper Omar Barri, Abdulrahman Al Korbi, Tabata, Sebastian Soria, Ali Sanad Al Naimi and Ahmed Abdulmaqsoud.

Al Ahli fielded goalkeeper Ivanildo Rodriguez, Abdulrahman Mohamed, Mohsine Metwali, Nigel de Jong, Ali Ferydoon, Ali Qadri, Mohamed Tresour, Khalil Sherif, John Benson and Barou Siddiqui.

 

Tabata scored the first goal off a direct free-kick. Al Rayyan kept attacking and the second goal through Soria off Ibrahim Abdel Halim’s cross.

The second half was calm despite some attempts from Al Ahli to reduce the gap. Soria then found the mark late into the game.

 

Al Sailiya 1 Al Khor 2

In the third game, Al Khor beat Al Sailiya 2-1. Hilal Mohammed scored Al Khor’s both goals in the 14th and 49th minutes while Ghassan Waheed scored for Al Sailiya in the 63rd.

After taking the lead in the first half, Al Khor went up 2-0 soon after the resumption.

Al Sailiya were close to reducing the gap, but Ghassan headed the ball over the bar. However, he was not to be denied as he found the mark with a strong header.
