Solari issues Isco backing

Published on: 05 January 2019

Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari says he has full confidence in Isco coming into the side as Los Blancos prepare to host Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday.

There has been some speculation surrounding the Spain international's future at the Santiago Bernabeu, especially after finding game time tougher to come by.

However, an injury to Wales star Gareth Bale in the 2-2 draw with Villarreal looks like it has provided Isco the perfect opportunity to have a run in the team.

Solari has been keen to dismiss speculation around Isco's future in the past and has now said he is looking forward to seeing what the playmaker can do ahead of the encounter with Real Sociedad.

"Isco is so good he can play wherever, in any position on the pitch," Solari said.

"Sometimes it´s not all about speed. You can be effective with your creativity, imagination and technical ability. Every player has different characteristics."

Meanwhile, Solari has played down the injury to Bale and feels the former Tottenham star should be back soon.

"We think the injury is not too serious," Solari said on Saturday. "He will go through tests today and we all hope he is back with us quickly."

Los Blancos are 8/1 to win La Liga, while arch rivals Barcelona are 1/4 to claim the title.
