Tottenham lost ground in the Premier League title race as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Harry Kane scored his ninth goal in the league this season on a wet afternoon at Selhurst Park but Jeffrey Schlupp's late strike rescued a point for Palace.

That means Liverpool can overtake them and go two points ahead if they beat Fulham later in the day. Liverpool host Tottenham in a top-of-the-table clash on Wednesday.

Son Heung-Min teed Kane up for the 23rd-minute strike, which saw Kane score from long-range with an effort that Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita should have done better with.

However, Spurs' attacking threat was minimal after the goal and Palace rallied late in the game as they searched for an equaliser.

Schlupp wasted an earlier opportunity, shooting high and wide when a Luka Milivojevic free kick fell to him in the box.

And Christian Benteke wasted two good headed opportunities, putting one on top of the goal and the other into the arms of Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

But a free kick from Eberechi Eze was poked beyond Lloris from close-range by Schlupp to salvage a point.

Guaita worked wonders in the Palace goal to prevent Kane scoring a late winner, saving a header from the England captain with time running out.
