We must react strongly against Al Duhail: Al Gharafa coach Gourcuff

Al Gharafa coach Christian Gourcuff spoke to the media ahead of their QNB Stars League Week 17 match against Al Duhail.

“This game comes after our loss against Umm Salal during which we were affected by the red-card suspension of Saeed Hajj. Also, it comes after we lost the AFC Champions League play-off to Iran’s Zobahan. So we are in such a situation that we must react strongly against Al Duhail. We can definitely return to the winning path.

“We are required to show our best, knowing that our targets have changed, especially after losing in the AFC Champions League. It’s now difficult for us to reach the top four, but we have to play to win every game.

“We are suffering from injuries to our players and a lack of focus on their part. I want my players to be more focused and disciplined during the games.

“There is no doubt that Al Duhail are one of the best teams in the QNB Stars League. Against them, we have our chances, as we proved in the QSL Cup final which we won recently. When we excel tactically, we are a totally-different team. We played with a group of youngsters, while Al Duhail fielded almost a complete squad,” said Gourcuff.
