Al-Sadd head coach Xavi Hernandez expressed his dissatisfaction, after his side’s 1-1 draw with Al-Arabi in Round 16 of the QNB Stars League.

Speaking at the press conference after the match, saying: “I’m very disappointed, we missed many easy opportunities. The league title has became very difficult after the draw with Al-Arabi, with the widening gap with leaders Al-Duhail.”

He added: “I do not know about the validity of the penalty that was awarded against us, and it is difficult now to win the league due to the results, and all this is because of the mistakes we made. But we will not give up and we still have six matches. We will continue to work.”

The coach continued: “The league championship is very difficult to win, and all the teams have developed a lot and have not conceded goals as before. Al-Arabi scored a goal out of their 3 chances, and we had 15 chances and we only scored one goal.”

Regarding the performance of his players in the match, Xavi said: “We played well but we did not win; we had the desire and I am happy with the performance of the players. We faced the defence of Al-Arabi, which is one of the best defensive teams in the league championship.”

As for the upcoming Al-Rayyan match, Xavi pointed out that the game will be a matter of life and death.

When asked about the level of the Mexican player Marco Fabian, he said: “I am happy with the performance of Marco Fabian, a joker player who can play on the wings and from deep. He is an excellent player and helps the team a lot.”
