Bounedjah scored his 27th and 28th goals while Hassan Al Haydous also scored a brace as Sadd stormed to another easy victory to place themselves hot on the heels of leaders Al Duhail SC, who were earlier held 1-1 by Qatar SC.

Bounedjah's continuing goal blitz helped his eclipse Brazilian Clemerson's tally of 27 goals for Al Gharafa in 2007-08 season.

Sadd are now on 35 points, just one behind Duhail, and have a massive goal difference of 49 to the leaders’ 26. Sadd will take on Duhail on December 11.

Sadd took the lead in the 23rd minute through Hassan Al Haidous who finished off the rebound after Shahania goalkeeper Amer Ahmad fumbled with Akram Afif’s powerful long-ranger.

Though Luciano Vasquez equalised in the 42nd minute, Bounedjah made it 2-1 in the 50, rolling Al Haydous pass into an empty net.

The Algerian made it 3-1 in the 76th with Afif doing the spadework while Haydous completed the rout in added time.

With eight more matches to go Bounedjah, who was the joint top-scorer with24 goals along with Duhail’s Youssef El Arabi in 2016-17, is miles ahead of his Moroccan rival this time and has more records in his sights.
