Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino joked that Cristiano Ronaldo found his mark on Sunday, despite not scoring a goal against him.

Sorrentino, 39, was temporarily knocked out after a collision with Ronaldo in the final moments of the 3-2 defeat to Juventus, which saw him replaced by Andrea Seculin.

The goalkeeper was released from hospital on Sunday morning after reportedly sustaining a fractured nose, whiplash and a bruised left shoulder. But he was in jovial mood on social media.

"THANK YOU for all your messages of affection and respect," Sorrentino posted on Twitter.

GRAZIE per i vostri messaggi di vicinanza, affetto e stima. Siamo un gruppo fantastico e ieri abbiamo sfiorato l'impresa: mentre CR7 mi ha preso in pieno! ???????????????????????? #ChievoJuve pic.twitter.com/gVZ9uU6YL5

"We are a fantastic squad and yesterday we had a brush with greatness: meanwhile, CR7 didn't so much brush me as get a bullseye!"

Meanwhile, Paulo Dybala apologised for celebrating Juventus' goal with captain Giorgio Chiellini while Sorrentino was unconscious.

Dybala responded to a comment on his Instagram saying: "You're right! I didn't realise what was happening at that moment. I was wrong."
