Al Kharaitiyat face Al Ahli in Round 2 (Group B) of the 2020-21 season Ooredoo Cup at the Al Arabi Stadium on Monday. The kick-off is at 17:45.
Al Kharaitiyat, who were promoted to this season’s QNB Stars League by virtue of being the Second Division champions, made headlines by beating 2019-20 QNB Stars League runners-up Al Rayyan by a 4-1 margin. Mohammed Osman, substitute Abdulrahman Mohammed and Rashid Tiberkanine (two goals) scored for Al Kharaitiyat, while Ali Ferydoon gave Al Rayyan’s lone reply.
Al Kharaitiyat will be keen to extend their winning run and The Thunders have the players to deliver the goods.
Al Ahli, meanwhile, will look to make a turnaround as they had suffered a 1-5 defeat at the hands of Al Arabi in the first round. A victory will put The Brigadiers’ campaign on track.
Hamdi Harbaoui (two goals), Sebastian Soria, Mehrdad Mohammadi and Ibrahim Nasser Kalla scored for Al Arabi. Mohammed Al Naimi replied for Al Ahli.
Al Gharafa, Umm Salal, Al Arabi and Al Rayyan are the other teams in Group B.
